DOGS IN VAN DIEMAN’S LAND – 2
At the other end of the PC scale is my watercolour of Ella, who lives with Justin, Sara and Alexander in South Hobart. She’s of dubious pedigree, but undoubtedly a darling.
DOGS IN VAN DIEMAN’S LAND - 1
SARA, ALEXANDER AND A BIG DOG IN SALAMANCA
We came from Mezin in France to Hobart in Tasmania and found these dogs in the Despard Gallery in Salamanca, near Battery Point.
They are by French-born artist Anne-France Fulgence, (who previously painted large landscapes). Some may feel there are political correctness issues with these large paintings (the subjects are all pig hunters) but what would art be if it was not sometimes confronting? I found them edgy and arresting, and I liked them very much.
